It’s beer o’clock

Do you think that Hemingway, Faulkner or Kerouac became Hemingway, Faulkner and Kerouac had they just sat behind their typewriters?

Beer O'Clock

Do you think that Hemingway, Faulkner or Kerouac became Hemingway, Faulkner and Kerouac had they just sat behind their typewriters?

Or even further, would American Pastoral, Freedom or The Great Gatsby ever have seen the light had their authors worked in isolation? Conversation and human interaction – those are the raw materials with which stories are made.

Here at The WD, we honor good stories, and that’s pretty much why we decided to build a bar in the middle of a bookstore. After all, what’s a writer without lives to witness?

Or a bar without people experiencing their own?

Every day at dusk, we’ll dim the lights and turn up the music to put you at ease, in case you feel like a drink (or two) with us. Our sole intention is to explore together how McCarthy, Toole, or Bolaño become what they became.

Come join us.

PS. For those forced to work late hours with your laptops, we apologize for any inconvenience our evening atmosphere may cause you. We want you to know that you’re more than welcome to stay as long as you wish; however, if our evening environment stands in the way of your work, our friends and neighbors at Common Desk may be able to assist you with a more peaceful environment. www.thecommondesk.com
